Let's Grooming

This project explores how presence and hierarchy can be established through repetition rather than language.

Motion Video

Inspired by Norman Mailer’s The Faith of Graffiti, which describes graffiti as the circulation of a name through public space, the work translates this idea into a different system. Instead of written names, the project uses repeated visual frames derived from footage of cats grooming each other — a behavior that can signal submission and hierarchy in animal social structures.
